QExtract Privacy Policy
In short: QExtract reads your documents on your own computer and does not upload them. It has no server, no account, no analytics and no tracking. The only time it sends anything over the internet is when you choose to push questions to Google Forms, and then it sends them to your own Google account.
Who we are

Documents you open
When you open a PDF, Word document, text file or image in QExtract, it is read and processed entirely inside your browser. The file is not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and QExtract keeps working with the internet disconnected.
QExtract requests no permission to access websites on its own (it has zero "host permissions"), so it has no general ability to send your files anywhere.
Pages you import
If you choose to import questions from a web page you have open, QExtract reads that page's content in your browser and processes it locally. To keep pictures with the questions, it may download images that are already shown on that page from the website that hosts them — the same images your browser has already loaded. Nothing from your computer is uploaded when this happens.
QExtract only reads a page when you ask it to import from that page.
What is stored on your computer
To be useful between sessions, QExtract stores the following on your own device, using Chrome's local storage for the extension:
- Question banks you save, and the edits and corrections you make to them
- Study progress, if you use study mode
- Display preferences, such as theme and font
- A copy of recent results, so reopening the same file is faster
- A small counter used to decide whether to ask you, once, for a store rating
This information is not synced to your Google account and is never sent to us.
Google Forms: the one feature that sends data
QExtract can create a Google Form from your questions. This only happens when you click Push to Google Forms.
- Chrome asks you to sign in to your Google account and approve access. QExtract requests only permission to create and edit Google Forms (the
forms.bodyscope). - The questions and answer options you chose are sent to Google to create a form in your Google account. They go to Google, not to us, and Google's Privacy Policy applies to them.
- QExtract does not store the access token. Chrome manages it as part of your browser's Google sign-in, and you can revoke it at any time from your Google Account's security settings.
QExtract's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What we do not do
- We do not collect, receive or store your documents, questions or answers.
- We do not use analytics, telemetry, tracking or advertising.
- We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone.
- We do not require an account.
- We do not send your documents to any AI service. Parsing is done by rules that run in your browser.
Problem reports
If you choose to create a problem report, QExtract shows you the complete report first, hides identifying content by default, and saves it as a file on your computer. Nothing is sent automatically. You decide whether to email it to us, and if you do, we use it only to fix the problem you reported.
Rating prompt
After you have used QExtract successfully a couple of times, it may ask whether you would like to rate it. The count behind this stays on your device. Choosing to rate opens the Chrome Web Store page in a new tab; choosing "No thanks" means it will not ask again.

QExtract requests no host permissions.
Deleting your data
- Removing the extension from Chrome deletes everything QExtract has stored on your device.
- You can clear study history for a document from inside QExtract at any time.
- Forms you created in Google Forms belong to your Google account and are managed there.
Children
QExtract does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Teachers and students can use it with class material knowing that the material stays on their device.
Changes to this policy
If we change how QExtract handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change reaches users.
